Significant initial laboratory values returned a brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) = 2,845 (< 100 pg/mL), troponin-I = 1.98 (<0.15 ng/mL), lactic acid = 2.0 (0.5 - 1.6 mmol/L) (Figure 3). Chest radiograph showed bilateral infiltrates (Figure 4) with pulmonary congestion consistent with atypical pneumonia with superimposed pulmonary edema. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and susceptibility to pneumonia measurement.
