Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs), defined by their lack of expression of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), are associated with a poorer prognosis and higher rates of distant recurrence compared to receptor-positive breast cancers (Reddy et al., 2018; Yin et al., 2020).
