Figure 2B displays that ox-LDL level in the model group was significantly higher than that of the control group, whereas it was significantly decreased in HSAV treatment group compared with the model group. The decreased ox-LDL level suggested that HSAV can reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Moreover, ET-1 level was increased, and serum levels of NO and eNOS were decreased in the model group (p < 0.05, Figure 2C) compared with the control group, while HSAV markedly reversed the abnormal changes in the levels of ET-1, NO, and eNOS caused by H2O2 treatment (p < 0.05, Figure 2C). This evidence concerns the gene EDN1 and atherosclerosis.
