Interestingly, intracoronary infusion of Lin− cells in patients with acute myocardial infarction was responsible for an increase in the plasma levels of several angiogenic factors, such as vascular endothelial growth factor, angiopoietin-1, basic fibroblast growth factor, and platelet-derived growth factor in parallel to increased BDNF production, indicating that Lin− cells are also a valuable source of angiogenic trophic factors with systemic activity [21]. This evidence concerns the gene ANGPT1 and myocardial infarction.
