Recent researches have shown that ATP5B and the other components of the ATP synthase complex, which are also known as ectopic ATP synthase, are expressed on the plasma membrane of certain type of tumor and normal cells, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells, breast cancer cells, endothelial cells, and others (Chi and Pizzo, 2006; Lu et al., 2009; Xu and Li, 2016; Chung et al., 2020).
