Individuals who developed hyperuricemia were more likely to be older, male, current drinkers; were more likely to have hypertension, dyslipidemia, and stroke; were more likely to have greater BMI, waist circumference, WHtR; and were more likely to have a higher concentration of SUA, total cholesterol, C-reactive protein, and serum creatinine at baseline (Table 1).
