It was observed that among SLE patients with East-Asian ancestry, the production of antibodies such as anti-nuclear ribonucleoprotein (RNP) anti-SSA/Ro, anti-SSB/La, and anti-cardiolipins (aCL) is associated with variants on the HLA-DRB1 locus, while the production of anti-Sm antibodies is associated with variant on the HLA-DPB1 locus [5]. The gene discussed is CALR; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
