Consistently, the cholesteryl ester-producing enzyme acetyltransferase ACAT1 is upregulated in many cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma, castration-resistant prostate cancer, and pancreatic cancer, whilst its expression positively correlates with reduced overall survival and recurrence-free survival in adrenocortical carcinoma (126, 248–250). Here, ACAT1 is linked to pancreatic neoplasm.
