This report is in keeping with a study of 930 pregnant women, in which it has been shown that 1-h PG values between 160 and 179 mg/dl were significantly associated with increased cord-blood insulin levels, intrapartum hyperinsulinism, and macrosomia, compared to a value of 1-h PG below 160 mg/dl (19). This evidence concerns the gene INS and hyperinsulinism.
