In this study, the DNA vaccine immune response is only due to the effect of the recombinant plasmid with the ribosomal protein L5 gene, because the pCI plasmid alone is unable to induce an immune response against leishmaniasis since it does not contain CPG motifs, while the pTCAE plasmid alone was able to induce partial immune response in mice against L. major because the pTCAE plasmid contains CPG motifs as discussed by Vakili et al. [33]. This evidence concerns the gene RPL5 and leishmaniasis.
