Recent studies have shown that the NLRP3 inflammasome is also involved in the pathological process of CVB3-induced myocarditis, which describes an upregulation of NLRP3 triggered by CVB3 capsid proteins VP1 and VP2, and an activation of NLRP3 mediated by ROS production and K+ efflux [5, 37]. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is myocarditis.
