Men with the highest novel frail score had a higher HF risk compared with those in the lowest group in the age-adjusted model (HR 2.77, 95% CI 1.25 to 6.15, p=0.01), which persisted after adjusting for prevalent MI and BMI (HR 2.55, 95% CI 1.14 to 5.72, p=0.02), additional clinical risk factors (HR 3.06 95% CI 1.31 to 7.14, p=0.01) and after adjustment for log IL-6 (HR 3.14, 95% CI 1.35 to 7.31, p=0.008).
