In terms of CV risk, one meta-analysis reported that the incidence of major vascular events (i.e., non-fatal MI or stroke, death from vascular cause) was increased by the use of COX-2 inhibitors (rate ratio, 1.37; 95% CI, 1.14 to 1.66; p = 0.0009) and diclofenac (rate ratio, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.12 to 1.78; p = 0.0036) compared with placebo. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and stroke disorder.
