Blood tests revealed microcytic and hypochromic anemia, leukocytosis with lymphopenia, C-reactive protein (CRP) 20.55 mg/dL (normal value < 0.6), procalcitonin 4.5 ng/mL (normal value < 0.5), fibrinogen 649 mg/dL (normal range 200–400), D-dimer 2653 ng/mL (normal range < 500), ferritin 603 ng/mL (normal range 11–306), hyponatremia and hypoalbuminemia. Here, CRP is linked to anemia.
