Soon after the first incidence peak of COVID-19 in Spain in April 2020, we provided evidence6 suggesting that anti-interleukin 6 (IL6) therapy (tocilizumab) and blocking of the CD80/86 axis with CTLA4-Ig (abatacept) are associated with a lower prevalence of COVID-19-associated symptomatology in rheumatic patients. The gene discussed is CTLA4; the disease is COVID-19.
