ILC3 produces IL-17 and IL-22, mobilizes neutrophils to defend against extracellular bacteria and fungi, and is involved in epithelial cell activation and proliferation, and in the liver, prevents the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) [16]. The gene discussed is IL22; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
