This is associated with an enhanced secretion of inflammatory mediators such as CXC chemokines, including CXCL-9 (MIG), CXCL-10 (IP-10) and CXCL-11 (I-TAC/IP9), which are known to play a pivotal role in SSc pathogenesis [11,12,13,14,15]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL11 and systemic sclerosis.
