A plasmid encoding the full-length genome of parvovirus B19 (primate erythroparvovirus 1 causing erythema infectiosum in humans) was shown to not only trigger IFN production but also to suppress the JAK/STAT signaling pathway, thus blunting IFN-responsiveness in HeLa cells [26]. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is erythema infectiosum.
