Of the four genes that were more severely dysregulated in COVID-19 compared to cardiomyopathy, two were reported to be dysregulated in COVID-19 patients: pro-inflammatory CCL4 was highly expressed in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of COVID-19 patients [57], and IL15 modulates inflammation and functions in viral clearance [58,59]. This evidence concerns the gene IL15 and cardiomyopathy.
