VPS36 and cancer: Table 3 shows the identified significant variants for each analysis. Overall, four variants in the genes GSDMD, B4GALT5, and VPS36 were significantly associated with pancreatic cancer, with p-values of minus four orders of magnitude or better. Other variants were associated with CP with high affinity. Moreover, six variants present in 10% or below of our samples were highly significant. More than 90% of these variants appeared in cancer, and only less than 10% were in CP. One of them (rs3093553) was already defined as a risk factor for breast cancer in two GWAS studies (see Table 4).
