Both trials, FOURIER and ODISSEY OUTCOMES, supported the role of a PCSK9 inhibitor as an adjunctive strategy for the treatment of dyslipidemia, as established by clinical practice guidelines of the American College of Cardiology [154], which recommend the administration of PCSK9 inhibitors for patients with established clinical atherosclerotic CVD and LDL-C ≥ 90 mg/dL, despite the use of maximally tolerated statin therapy and/or ezetimibe. Here, PCSK9 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
