The apparent contradiction that exists in the functionality of TRIB2 as an oncogene or tumour suppressor in AML models in vitro, might be due to the fact that both, high and low TRIB2 expression levels correlate with different types of leukemia in patients: AML subtypes with deletions in Chromosomes 5 or 7 display TRIB2 higher expression, whereas in AML subtypes with translocations of Chromosomes 9 or 11, TRIB2 expression is lower than in normal hematopoietic progenitor cells [19]. This evidence concerns the gene TRIB2 and acute myeloid leukemia.
