Furthermore, AQP4 is reported to promote neurogenesis both in the SVZ and in the hippocampus [36,37], and it has, therefore, been suggested to play a role in neurorepair [38] as well as in neurodegenerative diseases, since AQP4 participates in the onset and progression of Alzheimer disease and Parkinson’s disease [39].
