Preclinical studies showed that SOD inhibitors, such as 2-methoxyestradiol [138] and ATN-224 [127], have antileukemic abilities and that 2-methoxyestradiol has high selectivity and kills ALL cells in a targeted way without affecting normal hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells [128].
