CYP2C19 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: In the IGNITE study, Cavallari et al. reported that patients with a loss-of-function allele in the CYP2C19 gene were at significantly higher risk of myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or death within one year following percutaneous coronary intervention, when treated with clopidogrel compared to non T2DM patients.
