Gravel et al. have shed light on the clinical impact of T2DM on P450s by investigating activities of seven of the major CYPs (CYP1A2, CYP2B6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2E1, and CYP3A4/5) in T2DM compared to non-T2DM patients following the administration of oral probes (caffeine, bupropion, tolbutamide, omeprazole, dextromethorphan, chlorzoxazone, and midazolam) [120]. The gene discussed is CYP2E1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
