The DD genotype in the ACE1 gene has been shown to be associated with an increased risk of developing numerous common adult diseases, including hypertension, diabetic nephropathy, severe hypoglycemia in diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, myocardial infarction, and ischemic heart disease as well as symptoms of various other cardiac endpoints, pre-eclampsia, cerebral infarct, encephalopathy, asthma, cancer, and psychiatric diseases [52,53]. The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
