HSPA8 and Parkinson disease: Decreased levels of LAMP2A and HSC70 were reported in the human substantia nigra and amygdala of PD brains [340], whereas, in a subsequent study, LAMP2A was found to be selectively reduced in association with increased aSyn levels, even in the early stages of PD, thus suggesting a potential dysregulation of CMA-mediated protein degradation prior to substantial aSyn aggregation in PD [341].
