TP53 and colonic neoplasm: For the present study, in connection to the previous ones, and also to the fact that the function of TP53 (target of miR-125b) in cancer is highly dependent on its mutational status, the decision was made to test whether miR-125b role in colon cancer is dependent on the mutation status of TP53. miR-125b is downregulated in both colon cancer cell lines (DLD-1 and HCT-116) and tissue samples, data confirmed by TCGA RNASeq values for COAD cohort.
