Although a direct mechanism involving BRAFV600E in the epigenetic silencing of RASSF1A has never been reported, RASSF1A hypermethylation has been found alongside BRAF (and NRAS) mutations, suggesting a synergistic effect of MAPK pathway mutations and the loss of RASSF1A on melanoma growth [133].
