A pilot window-of-opportunity study of fluvastatin shows that in 33 men with prostate cancer, the use of fluvastatin before radical prostatectomy (RP) increased prostate cancer cell death with an increase in cleaved caspase-3 without alteration in intratumoral ki67, a marker of cancer [50], suggesting that the use of fluvastatin prior to RP improves the effect on tumor cells apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and prostate cancer.
