ATP5PO and diabetes mellitus: FO consists of several copies of subunit c (8 to 10 copies in mammalian mitochondria) [178,179,180], which form a ring complex, and one copy each of the following subunits: b, the oligomycin sensitivity-conferring protein (OSCP); d and F6, which constitute the FO peripheral stalk; f, the 6.8-kDa mitochondrial proteolipid (6.8PL), diabetes-associated protein in insulin-sensitive tissues (DAPIT); and g e, a and A6L, which act as FO supernumerary subunits [180] (Figure 6).
