TGFB1 and neoplasm: One of the functions of CD44 is to regulate cell migration by inducing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the release of extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling factors such as TGF-β1 and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) from tumor cells, thereby promoting the progression of diverse tumors, including CRC [20,21].
