In a model where a high fat diet induced obesity in mice, DOW reduced weight gain and fat mass around the epididymis, as well as increased fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid synthesis by regulating lipid synthesis and decomposition-related sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1c (SREBP1c), fatty acid synthase (FAS), and AMP-activate protein kinase (AMPK) mRNA expression levels, thus achieving an anti-obesity effect [12].
