MCL1 and melanoma: An upregulation of another antiapoptotic marker, also a member of the Bcl-2 family, Mcl-1, by BA treatment was observed by Selzer et al. in melanoma cells [58], a phenomenon that could not be clearly explained by the authors, but they stated that BA-induced apoptosis was a late event that occurred after 24–48 h and the stimulation of Mcl-1 expression was observed in the first hours of treatment, and somehow speculated that this event could be an adaptative response of the cells to a cytotoxic stimulus.
