Thiazolidinediones (TZDs) which were clinically approved as drugs to treat patients with T2DM, have been identified as a full agonist of PPARγ [18] which upon activation regulates the expression of various genes responsible in reducing the insulin resistance in tissues—such as glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4) and adiponectin [19]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
