Interestingly, in patients with involvement of the eye besides the CNS (neuro-ophthalmic) there was an apparent benign effect since autoantibodies were more prevalent among cases with fewer CNS alterations; as shown in Figure 4, in the neuro-ophthalmic toxoplasmosis group, significant differences were found in the RI to HSP70 and recoverin between the presence and absence of hydrocephalus and cerebral calcifications.
