ETV4 depletion led to significantly downregulated mRNA expression of glycolytic proteins including SLC2A1, ALDOA, GAPDH, PGK1, PGM1, ENO1, ENO2, PDK1 and LDHA in HCC and breast cancer cells, although its effect on the expression of HK2, which catalyzes the first step in glucose metabolism by phosphorylating glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, differed between HCC and breast cancer cells, with a reduced HK2 mRNA level observed only in ETV4-silenced breast cancer cells. This evidence concerns the gene LDHA and hepatocellular carcinoma.
