Studies using TSPO PET radiotracers have shown increased TSPO binding, corresponding to increased neuroinflammation, in the brain of patients with Alzheimers disease (AD), Parkinson disease (PD), stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and multiple sclerosis (MS), amongst others (Dimitrova-Shumkovska et al., 2020, Nutma et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene TSPO and myeloid sarcoma.
