After excluding subjects with suspected infection (CRP > 10 mg/L) at baseline, the meta-analytic unadjusted OR for psychosis at follow-up per SD increase in baseline CRP was 1.07 (95% CI 0.92–1.24, p = 0.40); see Supplementary Fig. 4, panel A. The 95% confidence interval widened after adjusting for age, sex and BMI (aOR = 1.04; 95% CI, 0.88–1.24; p = 0.64). Here, CRP is linked to infection.
