Bivariate analysis revealed that an unfavourable outcome was associated with the male sex (p=0.077), HIV infection (p= 0.001), having both pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB (p= 0.053), a haemoglobin level ≤ 10g/dl (p=0.004), and abnormal levels of liver transaminases (AST, p=0.005; ALT, p=0.007). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and tuberculosis.
