(2012), investigated the inhibitory effect of Acacia nilotica Delile (Fabaceae) leaves extract and γ-sitosterol on cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in breast and lung cancer cells, and showed that γ-sitosterol with induces G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis through c-Myc suppression in MCF-7 and A549 cells was a potent anticancer agent. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is lung carcinoma.
