To the best of our knowledge, three reports determined MMP-8 and TIMP-1 at hospital or ICU admission in septic or critically ill patients and presented TIMP-1 sensitivity 60–73% and specificity 45–76% with AUC 0.62–69 and cut-off values 331–531 ng/mL and MMP-8 sensitivity 49% and specificity 60% with AUC 0.55 and cut-off value 127 ng/mL in predicting 30–90 days mortality or overall sepsis mortality [13,15,29]. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP1 and Sepsis.
