The results indicated that increased cluster a ECs in BLM-treated lungs were enriched for processes associated with lung fibrosis, such as “chemotaxis activity,” “VEGF production,” “collagen binding,” and “ECM constituent.” In contrast, cluster d ECs were enriched in the control lungs and highly expressed genes related to “response to mechanical stimulus/cellular response to mechanical stimulus” and “lung/heart morphogenesis” programs. Here, VEGFA is linked to pulmonary fibrosis.
