Besides LRP6 antibodies, DKK1, as a natural inhibitor of LRP6, can effectively inhibit pericytes activation, detachment and transition to myofibroblasts in vivo in response to kidney injury caused by UUO and unilateral renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (UIRI), thus alleviating renal fibrosis, capillary rarefaction and inflammation (Ren et al., 2013; Johnson et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene LRP6 and renal fibrosis.
