Interestingly, quercetin revealed docetaxel resistance-reversing effects in docetaxel-resistant prostate cancer (LNCaP/R, PC-3/R) cells in vitro and in a prostate cancer xenograft model in vivo by reversing the upregulation of P-gp, the development of mesenchymal and stem-like cell phenotypes, and the activation of androgen receptor and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways; moreover, the combinatory treatment of quercetin and docetaxel slowed tumor growth and robustly inhibited proliferation in vivo [98]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is prostate cancer.
