In addition to identifying significant upregulation of Fgf21 in a microarray analysis of primary cultures of mouse hepatocytes transduced to overexpress nuclear CREBH using recombinant adenovirus, several other genes exhibited greater fold changes than Fgf21 with relevance to hepatic glucose uptake, energy, and lipid metabolism including solute carrier family 2 (facilitate glucose transporter) member 3, glycerol kinase 5, hepatocellular carcinoma downregulated mitochondrial carrier protein, and ApoA-IV. This evidence concerns the gene SLC25A33 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
