Our finding that schizophrenia risk ATP5MD is located in 200–600 kb downstream of the index SNP of 10q24.32 GWAS loci, together with previous reports that NT5C2, AS3MT, and BORCS7 in this locus have been reported as schizophrenia risk genes1,13,37, support that susceptibility gene expression could be regulated by risk genetic variants through either close range or long-distance chromatin interactions. This evidence concerns the gene NT5C2 and schizophrenia.
