Sheedy et al. reported that in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and other aseptic inflammation-related diseases, CD36 participates in activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome by recognizing ox-LDL, amyloid-β, and pancreatic amyloid proteins34. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
