The surface phenotype of prostate cancer samples was accessed using the basic 5-color antigen panel reported previously for the description of the prostate cancer and non-cancer cell lines [12] that included CD44 (marker of basal cells), CD57 (marker of luminal cells), CD24 (marker of differentiating cells), CD90 and CD133 (stromal markers). The gene discussed is CD44; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
