In both, adult and pediatric patients with CFRD or prediabetes, insulin therapy with NPH (32), as well as with Detemir (44) and glargine (37, 38) preserved pulmonary function and reduced the number of respiratory exacerbations, whereas therapy with regular human insulin or rapid analogue insulin or repaglinide had no impact on pulmonary function (28, 39, 40). This evidence concerns the gene INS and prediabetes syndrome.
